EWU ANNUAL DRAG SHOW

Every year, our chapter volunteers to help Eagle Entertainment during their annual Drag Show. We are given a variety of tasks to complete throughout the event, like scanning tickets, controlling HUGE lines, security, managing the spotlights, etc. We also get to meet the Queens after the show!

This service event is a common favorite amongst our sisters!

FEED CHENEY

The goal of Feed Cheney is to create community through food, volunteerism and sharing. They provide free, healthy meals and grocery distribution on the last Monday of every month. Our chapter often volunteers as servers at least once a quarter. We absolutely love the friendly environment and enjoy seeing new/familiar faces whenever we're there!

MAY DAY

The May Day March is a national event that supports workers’ and immigrants’ rights. Sisters participated in our local Spokane march along with a few hundred people and marched from Riverfront Park to the Spokane County Jail; calling on Spokane County officials to stop working with border patrol agents.

Our chapter strives to show their support for immigration rights in every way they can. Today, immigrants and people of color are rising up, fighting for our rights and making it known that we are the backbone of this country. And it's more important now than ever that we take a stand and fight.

BLANKET DRIVE

Our chapter takes those less fortunate than us into consideration during the chilly Winter season. Former Service officer, Jazmine Lopez, had the amazing idea of getting together and making blankets to donate to Blessings Under The Bridge,

a non-profit organization located in Spokane that helps their homeless population. We got together one chilly night and made 15 blankets, all while listening to good music and drinking Abuelita chocolate! Yum!

HARVEST FEST

Our sisters had the opportunity to volunteer for the annual Harvest Fest & Carnival at the Eastern Washington University campus this past SPOOKY season. The ladies were given a group of trick-or-treaters along with their parents, and became their groups tour guide, leading everyone to candy throughout the college campus! The kids had a blast, and we certainly did, too!

CHENEY ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT

Our chapter collaborates with our "87 fam" - the Beta Gamma chapter of Omega Delta Phi - every year for Cheney's annual Easter Egg Hunt. We get together and stand outside a local shop to ask for donations. We then use the donations to purchase materials and goodies to make Easter baskets and give them out to the kids who participate in the hunt!

RELAY FOR LIFE

Kappa Delta Chi's national philanthropy is the American Cancer Society. We continue to show our support towards our philanthropy by participating in our local Relay For Life every Spring in Spokane. We often fundraise snacks and/or drinks and donate the money to the American Cancer Society at the end of the event. In 2018, our chapter walked a total of 80 miles in support of cancer survivors, fallen, and fighting.

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY

Others look forward to MLK Day because its a day off of school, but our sisters look forward to MLK Day because its a day for service! Every year, our chapter partners with EWU's Office of Community Engagement and other Greek organizations to volunteer in a variety of locations like Naomi, Catholic Charities Chore House, Mobius, etc.

Dr. King's focus was on making our communities better. Our goal is to honor that legacy by thinking outside of 'the self' and doing something for others.
