ABOUT

OUR STORY

Four women - Cynthia Garza, Nellie Flores, Irene Montoya and Melissa Montoya -

recognized the need to unify and promote leadership among Hispanic women on their college campus at

Texas Tech University. They wanted to create something so special and unique that it would leave a legacy for others who followed. These ladies would become the official Founders of Kappa Delta Chi, and with the strong foundations of service, Christianity and friendship, they incorporated the principles of Unity, Honesty, Integrity, and Leadership into the organization. In order to officially establish the sorority, our Founders enlisted the aid of 10 women who are now known as the Charter members of Kappa Delta Chi. On April 6th, 1987, Kappa Delta Chi was recognized as an official organization on campus; this would be known as the organizations founding date. Since then, Kappa Delta Chi has continued to grow on a national spectrum by inducting 50+ chapters throughout the country. Kappa Delta Chi is recognized as a service-based, non-profit corporation.

The Always Lovely Alpha Lambda chapter of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. was established on

December 4th, 2005 at Eastern Washington University by 10 empowered ladies who all shared the same vision, goal and commitment. These 10 women are known as the Charters of the Alpha Lambda chapter.

They are as follows: Araceli Frias, Melinda Martinez, Diana Baylon, Anna Salazar, Liliana Godinez,

Martha Verduzco, Patricia Hernandez, Maria Elena Blanco, Jordana Belch, and Lilia Cruz. At the time of it's establishment, Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. became the first and only Latina-based sorority on Eastern Washington University's campus. In 2019, the Alpha Lambda chapter of Kappa Delta Chi was awarded

Sorority Chapter of the Year by EWU Sorority & Fraternity Life.
